39. go to a musical

while i was at my conference in new york, i decided that i needed to actually go out and do something while i was there. at conferences, you don't get to see much of the city, since you're in the conference hall all day, so saturday night, i decided on the spur of the moment that i wanted to go see a broadway musical. so, i walked down to the minskoff theater and stood in the standby line. i waited. and waited. i ended up waiting for about 2 hours, but, at 7:50, i finally got a ticket.

it was amazing! as soon as the lights went down and the first notes of 'circle of life' started playing, i got goosebumps. so amazing.

they do such an incredible job with the production - the costumes, the masks, the makeup, the dancing, the singing, it's all fantastic. it was definitely worth the two hours in line, and the extravagant ticket price. i am so glad that i went, and good theater is always worth the splurge.

obviously i couldn't take pictures during the performance (although i think someone in the first row was filming - the ushers kept going down during the middle of songs and shining their flashlights at him), so i don't have any pictures, but that's okay. it's all in my memory.
