.love.

okay, so really, i'm not a huge fan of valentine's day. i think it's just an excuse for stores to exploit emotions and relationships (and insecurities), and rake in the dough.
however, i do like the premise - celebrating love, in all its myriad of shapes. i am so grateful for j, and all of my family and friends. i am blessed to have so many amazing people in my life.

no, these flowers are not from j. he's an amazing boyfriend, but we decided we didn't really want to do anything for valentine's day (although i did make an amazing vday dinner). but, with all of the vendors selling flowers, i wanted to partake in the fun, so i went and bought some hyacinths. let's get this out of the way - i love flowers. i'm not a huge fan of the whole cut-flowers thing, but sometimes i just can't help myself.

and let's be honest - hyacinths are incredible. they are beautiful, and they smell absolutely amazing!

okay, maybe i just wanted something fun to photograph. that may have been part of my motivation. but they smell so gosh-darn good.

i remember planting hyacinth bulbs when i was in gradeschool - 4th grade perhaps? i can't recall. but it was so fun, and ever since then, i have been in love with hyacinths.

they just seem to epitomize spring to me.

so, happy love day.
.cheers.
