Some things I have learned thus far about the East Coast:
1. They do not share our love of health food. Well, more specifically, our (MY) West Coast love of Jamba Juice. Or smoothie places in general. Apparently the only Jamba Juice in the state of Massachusetts is on the BC or BU campus somewhere, and I just cannot justify spending more on transportation to Jamba than I would spend on the actual smoothie. Ah, woe is me, now I do not have my daily nourishment that I get from having a Jamba (or two) a day.
2. Their driving habits are foreign and alien to me. I saw a woman honk at a car the other day before the light even turned green. BEFORE it turned green! They honk at you for everything when you're driving. And yet, time and again I have seen pedestrians cross when they are clearly crossing illegally against a red light, and the cars just let them go. No honk, no nothing. They might even wave at them. So strange. At least I know that I will probably never get hit in this city.
And those are my wise wise observations of the Eastern seaboard. Oh yeah, and the Boston accent is incredible. Jeff and I got a ten minute tutorial on the "Chahlie Cahd" for the T by a Bostonian the other day. I swear, it's like something from the Departed.
