We gathered our things and headed out to a cab. Everyone else was loitering around the reception hall, not ready to leave. Mr. CA and I weren't ready either, I don't think, but we were sweaty and tired. It was time to go!
No fancy limo or getaway car - a cab will do just fine for us.
Mr. CA's dad had checked us into the hotel earlier in the day so that we wouldn't have to deal with it when we arrived. That was awesome, and I highly recommend you have someone do that for you if you're staying in a hotel that night. It meant we were able to just hop in the elevator and go up to our room!
As we were in the elevator, I realized that we were going to a very high floor. I got a little suspicious. And when we got into the room, I saw that Mr. CA had surprised me with a very nice, very large, suite! It was fabulous, I was very surprised, and it was just the perfect end to a wonderful day.
A fuzzy Space Needle.
The hotel brought us champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries, along with a lovely welcome basket. Ahh, newlywed bliss. I was so exhausted, but I wanted to stay up a while longer to enjoy the goodies and bask in the joy of being able to call Mr. CA "husband." I felt so content. Happy.
A view of our suite. It was massive!
We totally dug into our welcome basket and the strawberries. So delicious! And even though I had eaten a fair amount of my dinner, I was still pretty ravenous. Cheese and crackers have never tasted so good.
We woke up to another beautiful Seattle summer day. We had planned to go to a Sounders game with the groomsmen and my sister that afternoon, so all the boys came to meet us at the hotel. They looked pretty chipper!
We had so much fun at the game, and I loved spending the extra time with my sister and our close friends. That afternoon, instead of a 'farewell brunch' my mom and new mom-in-law had planned a little picnic at one of our local parks for any wedding guest that wanted to come. It certainly wasn't fancy: we invited everyone through a Facebook invite or word-of-mouth, and just brought a bunch of pizzas, fruit, veggies, and leftover cake. It was wonderful, though. Fun to see people again outside of the wedding, and in a slightly more relaxed environment. The weather was beautiful, and I could not have been happier with how everything turned out. And we were married! That was the best part.
All-in-all, a wonderful end to a great weekend of festivities. And that, my friends, is the end of our wedding recaps. Have you had enough of me yet?
Did you have any sort of farewell brunch or picnic the day after? Did you leave directly for your honeymoon, or did you stick around to spend more time with guests?
We made it official. Legally.
I stressed out big time.
We did some last-minute prep.
We rehearsed.
Our wedding day arrived!
The little details fell into place.
I got all gussied up.
The guys got ready.
We had a first look.
Mr. CA and I took "formal" portraits.
We took pictures on a dock.
After some mishaps, we made it to the church.
We said our vows. Voila! Married.
We took tons of family pictures.
We relished our alone time.
Our reception details were amazing.
We did lots of hugging. And ate food.
My sister memorized Shakespeare and we mangled our cake.
I danced with my two guys.
Everyone else danced too.
We had fun in the Smilebooth.
